Apple Chiffon Cake

Ingredients
cake:
1/3 cup crisco oil
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup finely chopped peeled apple (2 small to medium)
topping:
2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup crisco oil
3/4 cup sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup finely chopped peeled apple (2 small to medium)
topping:
2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Methods/steps
preheat oven to 350°F. spray an 8x8 baking pan with crisco no stick cooking spray, set aside.
for cake: in the bowl of an electric mixer, combine crisco oil, sugar and eggs; beat at medium speed until well combined. combine next 6 ingredients. add to oil mixture; beat until just blended. stir in apples. spread evenly in prepared pan.
for topping: combine sugar, nuts, and cinnamon. sprinkle evenly over batter.
bake at 350°F 30 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. cut into 3 x 2-1/4-inch rectangles. serve warm or at room temperature.
