prepare large squares of heavy duty aluminum foil or aluminum foil baking bags with margarine, shortening, or cooking spray.
place a layer of potatoes and then sprinkle with seasonings and pats of crisco stick. put a layer of onions on top of potatoes, then another layer of potatoes on onions.
season again and place additional pats of crisco stick.
wrap with foil, sealing edges and rolling toward center.
cook on hot grill, turning once, for 10-15 minutes. these may also be cooked in a 400°F oven for the same length of time.
